Root elevators are used to luxate (loosen) the tooth by severing the periodontal ligament. By applying the principle of a lever and wedge, these instruments expand the bony socket, making the subsequent use of forceps much safer and easier. They feature ergonomic, thick handles to provide the dentist with a firm, non-slip palm grip.
